Why Layer?
Layering isn’t just an aesthetic choice—it’s a thoughtful design move that enhances both form and function.

Restored & Reimagined: A Thoughtful Cottage
When Jen (@thecaliforniarancher) and her family set out to build a guest cottage on their property, their vision was clear: create a warm, welcoming retreat that felt like an extension of their home. Every detail—from wood beams to soft window treatments—was selected with intention to make the space feel grounded, comfortable, and complete.
“My style is a relaxed yet refined take on California living. Where classic forms meet warm, natural textures and every detail is chosen with intention. It’s grounded, welcoming, and deeply personal... New Traditional with a West Coast soul. Elegant but never fussy, timeless but always comfortable.”
To bring that feeling to life, Jen chose Everhem’s Drapery & Roman Shades in Sand Essentials and Khaki Woven Wood Shades—favorites for their subtle texture, softness, and effortless sophistication.
“They add such a beautiful layer of texture and softness. Elevated but unfussy, which is exactly how I want our home to feel. I also love how the privacy shades give us the function we need without blocking out that dreamy natural light.”
For the guest bedroom, comfort and ease were key. Motorized roman shades and drapery on the French doors delivered both, while maintaining the relaxed, refined aesthetic.
“We really wanted the space to feel like a true retreat. Everhem’s shades brought not only practicality but also a beautiful softness and texture that completed the cottage. The quality and finish are unmatched—it was the perfect finishing layer that brought this cottage to life!”
Best of all, the entire experience—from design to installation—was refreshingly simple.
“The process was genuinely seamless—from measuring to ordering to installation. Everhem truly made it easy. Their customer service was incredible—thoughtful, attentive, and supportive every step of the way. It felt like working with a trusted partner. We LOVE Everhem!”
Designed with heart and finished with intention, this restored guest cottage now feels like a true escape—layered with warmth, light, and the quiet luxury of thoughtful details.

At Everhem, we believe window treatments should be as intentional as every other design detail in your space. That’s why we’re drawn to pieces that blur the line between function and art—like the Carly Kuhn Collection.
Known for her elegant, hand-drawn aesthetic, Carly Kuhn brings a unique perspective to interiors. Her signature line work—minimal yet expressive—adds an effortless sense of sophistication, offering a refined way to elevate the everyday. This collection was designed for those who want their home to feel truly curated. Whether you're softening a space or adding an architectural focal point, Carly’s patterns bring personality, depth, and artistry to any room.
And for those looking to make an even bolder statement, the collection also includes matching wallpaper. Used together, the fabric and wallpaper create a cohesive and impactful design moment—proof that thoughtful details can completely transform a space.
With expressive lines and whimsical figures, each pattern turns everyday details into something special—showing that even your windows can be a canvas for creativity.
Pattern. Personality. And the windows that frame it all.
Step into Nell Diamond’s Windham, New York ski house, and you’re met with a joyful riot of pattern, print, and playful detail. A velvet settee. Gingham wallpaper. Painted plates. Built-in bunks. It’s cozy-cottage meets Austrian mountain lodge—rich with references and full of personality.
Designed in collaboration with her longtime friend Lauren Carlucci, the home is a personal patchwork of Nell’s favorite things: carved wood finishes reminiscent of alpine hotels, antique rugs, classic British upholstery, and fabric prints pulled straight from her Hill House Home archives.
The Role of the Windows
In a home filled with vibrant textures and layered prints, Everhem window treatments were used to bring balance and softness—supporting the visual richness without competing with it.
Across the home, Everhem Drapery and Roman shades provide refined control of natural light—lending quiet structure and calm to every space. In the primary bedroom, custom drapery in Sand Essentials brings softness to richly patterned walls, layered with tailored hardware for a look that’s clean, classic, and grounded.
In the bunk room, Roman shades in Flax bring a warm, natural texture to a space designed for both comfort and play—adding just enough light control to support cozy mornings and quiet afternoons.
Design That Feels Like You
“I’ve always been led by what makes me happy, not what’s in style,” says Nell. That sentiment is reflected in every room, and it’s why Everhem’s fully customizable approach worked seamlessly within the project. From private spaces to guest-ready corners, we helped shape window treatments that support both function and design.
Whether your space is layered with pattern or grounded in simplicity, Everhem is here to help you choose every window treatment detail with intention.
The Art of Framing a Room
Why Drapery & Hardware Matter
In design, it's often the subtle choices that leave the deepest impression.
At Everhem, our Drapery & Hardware collection is crafted to offer more than just window coverage—it brings depth, softness, and intention to a space. Whether you're layering it over a shade or letting it stand alone, the right drapery sets the tone, quietly shaping the room around it.
However, it’s not just about looks. Drapery plays an important role in function: filtering light, improving acoustics, and adding a sense of movement to your interiors. It can soften a modern space or add a traditional touch to a newer build. It moves gently with the air and shifts with the light—bringing a room to life in quiet, beautiful ways.
If you’re not sure where to begin, our team offers one-on-one design support to help you select the right style, fabric, and finish for Drapery & Hardware in your home.
Fabric Spotlight: Driftwood Hues
A perfect neutral with quiet texture
In a world of ever-changing trends, Driftwood Hues offers something enduring—balance.
Woven from 100% Belgian linen, Driftwood Hues is our take on the perfect neutral. With its soft, earthy tone and natural texture, this fabric brings subtle warmth to any space, whether layered against deep paint colors, soft woods, or tonal interiors.
Quietly sophisticated and refreshingly understated, this hue brings balance and cohesion to a space. It grounds without overpowering, making it ideal for open-concept layouts and layered design schemes where subtle continuity matters.
Whether you're designing a space from the ground up or refreshing a single room, Driftwood Hues offers a versatile foundation that complements any aesthetic. It’s a fabric that brings balance, depth, and ease—proof that the most impactful choices are often the most understated.
We’re thrilled to share a beautiful collaboration between Everhem and Amber Lewis of Amber Interiors, a longtime tastemaker and interior designer known for her signature blend of laid-back California elegance and richly layered interiors. Amber recently spotlighted Everhem window treatments in one of her stunning projects—and the results are everything we love about timeless design with a tailored twist.
Amber chose Everhem’s Pebble Sheer Drapery in Box Pleat in the living area, pairing it with Shoppe's custom Everhem hardware, which is now available at Shoppe Amber Interiors. The airy Pebble Sheer fabric brings softness and movement to the space while allowing light to filter through with an ethereal glow—an ideal backdrop for Amber’s signature mix of natural materials and neutral tones.
In her words on All Sorts Of, Amber explains:
“I love the clean lines of their curtain rods and how you can select from a bunch of finishes to make them work in any space. There’s a simple elegance to them that makes them really easy to layer into both modern and traditional homes.”
That simplicity and flexibility were central to this project. The hardware, a key design detail often overlooked, was intentionally chosen to complement—not compete with—the drapery. Its streamlined silhouette and timeless finishes helped create that effortless-yet-elevated look Amber is so known for.
In the bedroom, function met finesse with Amber’s selection of Juniper Hues Drapery and a matching Roman Shade, both with blackout lining for optimal light control and privacy. The mood here is cozy, calm, and cocooned—thanks to the rich hue and tailored fit of the window treatments. This tonal pairing creates a cohesive look that feels grounded and serene—a perfect retreat that supports both rest and style.
As Amber put it, “It’s no secret that I love a good window treatment… and these from @everhem are basically perfect.” We couldn’t agree more.
Whether you're going for breezy and open or tailored and private, Everhem’s made-to-measure approach means you get a fully custom look without the guesswork.
Introducing the Carly Kuhn Collection
We’re thrilled to unveil the Carly Kuhn Collection—a creative collaboration between Everhem and artist Carly Kuhn. This partnership blends Carly’s distinctive, hand-drawn style with Everhem’s commitment to timeless, high-quality window treatments, resulting in a collection that feels both elevated and effortlessly chic.
The story began in 2019, when Everhem founder and interior designer Haley first discovered Carly's work. Over the years, their friendship grew alongside their creative paths. In 2024, as Haley explored ways to thoughtfully introduce pattern into Everhem’s custom offerings, she knew an artist collaboration could bring a fresh perspective. As fate would have it, Carly reached out at the very same time with a similar idea. The timing was serendipitous—and their shared vision came to life with ease.
Carly, a New York native now based in Miami, is known for her expressive illustrations and collaborations with brands like Bergdorf Goodman, Tory Burch, Crate & Barrel, and Sotheby’s. Her background in entertainment and improv lends a playful, witty tone to her work, which ranges from fashion sketches to large-scale murals. Her inspiration comes from everyday quirks, vintage charm, and pop culture—elements that shine through in this exclusive collection.
Featuring four versatile patterns, the Carly Kuhn Collection captures Carly’s artistic flair while honoring Everhem’s refined design sensibility. Each pattern brings a unique personality to your space:
All four patterns are available across Everhem’s signature window treatment styles: custom drapery, tailored shades, and café curtains. Whether you're making a bold statement or adding subtle texture, these designs bring warmth, personality, and lasting quality to any room.
A thoughtfully curated color palette ensures each piece integrates beautifully into a range of interior styles—whether you're cultivating a playful vibe or a more refined atmosphere. The result is a timeless collection that balances creativity and elegance.
We’re proud to bring Carly’s artwork to life through this collaboration—and can’t wait to see how her charming, one-of-a-kind designs transform your windows
For Haley, the founder of Everhem, designing her home office wasn’t just about practicality—it was about creating a personal retreat. She wanted a space that would inspire her daily, spark creativity, and offer moments of calm amid her busy schedule. From the start, her vision was clear: a thoughtfully curated office filled with warmth, personality, and timeless style.
At the heart of her design was the perfect window treatment. Naturally, she turned to Everhem’s Cognac fabric in an outside mount shade—a choice that felt deeply personal. Cognac, her favorite hue from Everhem’s Hues collection, is a soft amber linen that bathes the room in a warm, inviting glow. Not only does it filter light beautifully, but it also sets the tone for the entire space, creating a cozy and welcoming atmosphere.
With the foundation in place, Haley layered the room with meaningful elements that reflect her love for rich colors, bold patterns, and thoughtful details. Despite its compact size, the office bursts with character. A standout feature? The stunning ‘Anna Floral’ Grasscloth Wallpaper in Blue Brown by Nathan Turner for Wallshoppe, which makes a striking contrast against the burgundy wainscoting, doors, and window frames painted in Farrow & Ball’s Eating Room Red. The combination of floral prints and deep, vintage-inspired hues infuses the space with warmth, depth, and a touch of old-world charm.
Functionality was just as important as aesthetics. Haley needed a versatile work surface—one that would work equally well for quiet solo tasks and collaborative meetings. She found the perfect fit in the Nero 60" Natural Wood Oval Dining Table from Crate and Barrel. Paired with striped upholstered chairs from McGee & Co. (a discontinued but much-loved find), the setup strikes a balance between sophistication and comfort. A vintage-inspired rug from the Amber Lewis x Loloi collection grounds the space, tying together its warm tones and adding a layer of softness underfoot.
Beyond her workspace, Haley carved out a cozy nook for moments of rest and reflection. She discovered the perfect chair at Litt Concept House, a beloved Los Angeles boutique known for its mix of new, custom, and vintage pieces. Litt Concept House also happens to be home to Everhem’s showroom and sample collection, making this choice even more meaningful. Upholstered in a floral fabric that echoes her wallpaper, the chair is an inviting retreat—ideal for brainstorming, reading, or simply taking a moment to pause.
What makes Haley’s office truly special, though, is the way she weaves in personal touches. She didn’t just shop for new pieces—she found creative ways to repurpose items she already owned. A bar cart from her dining room now serves as a stylish shelf, while a linen drum lamp from her bedroom brings a soft, ambient glow to her desk. These elements, rich with personal history, make the space feel lived-in and deeply personal.
Haley’s home office is more than just a workspace—it’s a reflection of her design sensibility, her love for meaningful details, and her ability to blend beauty with functionality. From the warm glow of her Everhem Cognac shade to the curated mix of patterns, textures, and treasured finds, every detail tells a story. It’s a space that fuels her creativity, fosters productivity, and most importantly, feels like home.

Situated on two lush acres of picturesque woodlands, the property perfectly captures the essence of old-world European charm blended seamlessly with the rugged natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

Her choice of luxurious Venetian plaster walls, rich, sophisticated colors from Farrow & Ball, custom-built cabinetry, and carefully curated vintage Murano lighting pieces illustrate her meticulous attention to detail and passion for timeless interiors.
One of Molly’s standout design principles is embracing natural light and harmonizing interior spaces with their surroundings. She turned to Everhem drapery to achieve this, notably choosing their Pebble Sheer Drapery for her spacious living area. The sheer linen fabric gracefully frames expansive windows, allowing gentle sunlight to flood the room while maintaining a calm and airy feel. Molly particularly loves how the delicate drapes complement the natural elements in her décor, adding an inviting warmth and luxury to the living space.

These curtains add a delightful, vintage-inspired charm, creating a cozy corner perfect for enjoying morning coffee or gathering for informal meals. Hi, I’m Haley, the founder of Everhem, and today, I’m excited to share some of my favorite tips for customizing the perfect window treatment. Over the years, we’ve helped countless people transform their homes with our window treatments, and I’ve picked up a few tricks along the way. Whether you’re a first-time buyer or a seasoned design enthusiast, these tips will help you get the most out of your window treatment experience.
So, grab your measuring tape (yes, you’ll need it!), and let’s dive in!
I know—everyone’s heard the adage, “measure twice, cut once.” But at Everhem, we take it further and recommend measuring three times at three different parts of your window. Trust me—accuracy is EVERYTHING. A small mistake in measurement can throw off the entire look, and no one wants that! You can ensure your custom window treatment fits just right by measuring in multiple spots. This simple extra step can save you time and frustration later on.
Do you have small windows and want to make them appear larger? I have a favorite trick for that. Instead of mounting your shades inside the window frame, I suggest an outside mount. By installing your shades on the drywall above the window, you can make your windows feel grander. To make a difference, mount your shade about 5-6 inches above the window and make sure the shade is 1.5-2 inches wider on each side. It’s a simple yet effective way to add dramatic flair to even the tiniest spaces!
If you haven’t considered cafe curtains for your space yet, let me tell you: it’s time to start! These charming, versatile window treatments are making a huge comeback. Whether you’re styling a cozy kitchen or want a bit of privacy in a bathroom, cafe curtains are the perfect solution. They’re casual, and beautiful, and allow you to control the amount of light that enters your space. Plus, they come in endless fabric options, so you can customize them to fit your aesthetic!
I’m about to tell you a little secret: motorization is one of the best features we offer at Everhem. And the best part? It requires NO electrical wiring. Yup, you read that right! Our motorized shades are powered by a rechargeable battery, which lasts about 4-6 months before needing a charge. It’s the perfect solution for hard-to-reach windows or if you just love the idea of controlling your shades with the touch of a button. Once you experience it, you’ll wonder why you didn’t try it sooner!
Here’s another trick I love: mount drapery rods halfway between the top of the window and the ceiling when installing drapery rods. This placement creates an elegant, balanced look that draws the eye and gives the room a more spacious feel. If you’re working with high ceilings or a pitched roof, keep in mind the room's scale—what looks good in a tiny room might not work as well in a large one. But as a general rule, placing your rod halfway is a great starting point for any space.
At Everhem, we’re all about making the design process fun, easy, and stress-free. These tips are just the beginning of what you can do to make your windows stand out. Customizing your window treatments is an investment in your home, and with a bit of attention to detail, you can achieve the perfect fit every time.
If you have any questions or need help picking the proper treatment for your space, don’t hesitate to reach out! We’re always here to help.
Happy decorating!
Haley
At Everhem, we pride ourselves on curating fabrics that elevate spaces and meet the evolving needs of designers and homeowners. The introduction of Granite to our Hues collection came about in response to numerous requests from designers seeking a darker, brown-toned fabric to complement their spaces. Granite fits that request perfectly—offering a sophisticated and cozy hue that works effortlessly in various interiors.
Granite is a 100% Belgian linen with a subtle brown base and gray undertones. It’s a deeper color but not so dark that it overwhelms a room. Instead, it adds richness and dimension, creating a cozy, inviting atmosphere without making the space feel heavy or closed in. It has the unique ability to enhance the layers of a room, giving it a sense of depth that feels grounded and elevated.
In interior design, brown is making a strong comeback, and Granite is an excellent way to introduce this warm, earthy tone into your space. It pairs beautifully with wood tones, making it ideal for homes with natural wood floors, furniture, or cabinetry. Whether your wood pieces are light or dark, Granite complements them easily, creating a balanced and harmonious look throughout the room.
The timeless appeal of Granite makes it a significant investment. While it fits perfectly with current design trends, its enduring nature ensures that it will continue to feel fresh and relevant for years. Its welcoming, cozy vibe and elegant sophistication make Granite an ideal choice for any space, whether used as a window treatment or incorporated into other design elements.
One of the standout qualities of Granite is its versatility. It can be transformed into drapery, shades, or café curtains, making it a flexible choice for any room. Whether outfitting large windows or adding a stylish touch to a smaller space, Granite adapts beautifully to various window treatments.
Another key aspect of Granite's versatility is the ability to customize the linings. For drapery or shades, you can choose from unlined, privacy-lined, or blackout lining options, depending on your needs. Whether you're looking for a soft, airy feel or total light control, Granite can be tailored to suit your space's functional and aesthetic requirements.
