This is entirely dependent upon the window for which the drapery is being designed. That said, with respect to length, we strongly recommend mounting your drapes 7–8” minimum above the top of your window frame if you have the room to do so.
We also strongly recommend designing your drapery to just kiss the floor as opposed to designing them to hit the floor and create what’s called a “puddle.” Especially for functional drapery that is intended to be opened and closed frequently (which all Everhem drapery products are), a “puddle” would get dirty quickly and often.
It is also worth noting that 100% linen fabrics do tend to grow in length about ½” over time. When you choose a 100% linen fabric however, we automatically take this into account so you needn’t make any measurement deductions.
With respect to drapery width, we only offer drapes in what is called “2x fullness.” This ensures that when your drapery is in the closed position it still looks lush and maintains its folds and structure rather than looking like a flat sheet over a window. We automatically factor fullness into our calculations and your measurements do not need to account for it at all.
We also strongly recommend a “stack” width of 8” on each side of the window whenever there is sufficient room for it. For more information on stack, please click here
